Kathy Parry decided that breast cancer has no boundaries and neither does a Pink Ribbon Breakfast!
“With the help of a few friends we managed to host almost 100 women who sat down to a 5-star buffet breakfast,” says Kathy. “What amazed me most was that although we were from many different countries, breast cancer has no boundaries. I was surprised with just how willing people are to help…donations, prizes, discounts and just about anything that we could ask for. I've also learned that women will pay to talk to their friends just about anywhere!”
The Jeddah event was held annually for three years before Kathy returned home to Auckland. “I hope to host a breakfast wherever I am in the world. If we could do it in Saudi Arabia, there's no excuse why you can't have one here at home!” says Kathy. “I feel so lucky to live in a country like NZ where we have access to treatment and organizations like BCFNZ.”
Kathy’s Top Tip:
Ask for a donation for entry even if it's just at your house. If the money side is taken care of in the beginning you get to enjoy the rest of the event and no one feels pressured into buying anything or entering raffles.
