Breast cancer is a cause that runs very deep within my heart; I started volunteering after my grandmother was diagnosed with breast cancer many years ago.
I wanted to show my support for those who are, or have been, affected by this disease.
Many years later, at the age of 37, I, too, was diagnosed with breast cancer.
I remained a Volunteer Coordinator throughout my own breast cancer journey, finishing the final stage of my treatment (radiation) 4 days prior to that year's Pink Ribbon Street Appeal.
I've now been volunteering for Breast Cancer Foundation NZ for 10 years!
The love, support and kindness form the Foundation has made my own journey through breast cancer so much easier.
